AIA Names Julie Rochman Senior Vice President of Communications

WASHINGTON, DC -- The American Insurance Association (AIA) has named Julie Rochman as senior vice president of public affairs. She joins AIA with more than a decade of public affairs and government affairs expertise representing insurance industry and public safety organizations.

"Throughout her career, Julie has emerged as a well-known and highly respected authority within the insurance industry and related organizations. Her years of successful industry experience will be a tremendous asset for our organization," said Bob Vagley, AIA president.

Rochman led media, industry and government relations efforts the past four years for the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, serving most recently as vice president of communications. Prior to that, she worked five years in the Washington, D.C., office of the Alliance of American Insurers as assistant vice president of public affairs. Other insurance experience includes three years with the Insurance Information Institute in the federal affairs office.

Rochman, a native of Omaha, Nebraska, received her Masters of Arts in American Government from the University of Virginia and graduated cum laude from Tulane University with a Bachelors of Arts in International Relations.

The American Insurance Association represents more than 370 major insurance companies, which provide all lines of property and casualty insurance and write more than $60 billion annually in premiums. The association is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and has representatives in every state.
