CARSTAR Names Carlew Executive Vice President and General Manager of Franchise Operations

OVERLAND PARK, KS -- CARSTAR has announced the appointment of Beryl F. Carlew as Executive Vice President and General Manager of Franchise Operations. In his new role, Carlew will be responsible for management, growth and profitability of CARSTAR’s franchise collision repair centers.

"Beryl is the ideal executive for this new role at CARSTAR," said George Hansen, President and Chief Operating Officer. "For the past nine years, he has contributed to several areas of our company as a pivotal member of our executive team. His strategic experience with marketing and insurance and his managerial skill with multi-unit operations will be crucial to our franchise group as we continue CARSTAR’s aggressive growth and development plans."

In addition to providing strategic management for CARSTAR’s franchise network, Carlew will also partner with the company’s Zone Managers to ensure that franchisees receive consistent service and support from CARSTAR’s corporate office.

"Franchisees provide the foundation for our network," Carlew said. "I’ve enjoyed working with them on insurance and marketing programs, and look forward to becoming their champion on a full-time basis to help them grow and more fully utilize the benefits they receive through their relationship with CARSTAR."

Carlew has contributed strategic leadership and management guidance to nearly every division of CARSTAR. He served on the board of directors in 1996 and 1997. In his previous position as Executive Vice President, Carlew was responsible for the marketing and insurance departments. After joining CARSTAR in 1991, Carlew established the company’s Insurance Department and implemented new solutions to resolve franchise-specific operational issues. He also assumed responsibility for development, service and insurance marketing. As a member of CARSTAR’s executive team, Carlew was intimately involved in the company’s search for an equity partner. After 10 years of service in senior level roles with CARSTAR, Carlew will be exclusively dedicated to the growth and development of CARSTAR’s franchise base.

With nearly 300 locations across North America, the CARSTAR family of franchise and company facilities generates annual repair revenue in excess of $300 million. Since its formation in 1989, CARSTAR has performed over 1.5 million repairs with an average customer satisfaction rating of 95 percent or better. Their repair work and service are backed by the only nationwide warranty in the industry. CARSTAR is headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas.
