Sherwin-Williams Announces Robert A. Taylor New President of Chemical Coatings Business Unit

CLEVELAND -- The Sherwin-Williams Company has announced that Robert A. Taylor has joined Sherwin-Williams as President of the Chemical Coatings Business Unit of the Paint Stores Group. Mr. Taylor will build on Sherwin-Williams' coatings technology and distribution strengths by redirecting its chemical coatings business strategy. The Chemical Coatings Business Unit provides a wide range of factory-applied coatings for wood, metal and plastic surfaces to manufacturers of consumer, industrial and commercial products.

Mr. Taylor was most recently President and Chief Operating Officer of Lilly Industries, Inc. Prior to his six year tenure with Lilly, he had 23 years of experience with Akzo Nobel Coatings where he served in many technical and managerial capacities.

John Morikis, President, Paint Stores Group, said, "We are pleased that Bob Taylor has joined our organization to lead our chemical coatings organization in redefining its business strategy to be more in line with the specific markets it serves as well as expanding its business reach to global markets. The redirection of the chemical coatings business under his leadership will result in the increased focus of our technical, sales and marketing specialists on each of our strategically defined markets. This attention will allow us to consistently bring professional consultation and service with the best products to our customers based on a thorough understanding and depth of experience in our customer's specific market."

Mr. Taylor's experience includes business unit management, manufacturing and engineering, corporate marketing, research and development and supply chain management across worldwide coatings markets. He completed an advanced management program at Harvard Business School and holds a bachelor's degree in management and an associate's degree in chemistry from the University of Louisville. He currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Industrial Coatings Committee for the National Paint and Coatings Association.

Mr. Taylor commented, "I'm thrilled about this opportunity to build a significant worldwide business based upon the strong reputation and technological foundation of Sherwin-Williams' industrial OEM finishes business."
