BASF Changes Name of Its Coatings Business in Mexico

TULTITLAN, Mexico -- The business entity overseeing BASF's paint and coatings operations in Mexico has changed its name from BASF Pinturas, S.A. de C.V., to BASF Coatings de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., effective immediately.

This action was taken to bring the entity's corporate identity and nomenclature in line with its parent organization, BASF Coatings Aktiengesellschaft (AG), headquartered in Muenster, Germany.

BASF Coatings de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., will continue to operate at its headquarters and manufacturing site in Tultitlan, near Mexico City. BASF produces automotive and industrial coatings at Tultitlan for the North American market.

BASF has been present in Mexico for more than 30 years. BASF Coatings de Mexico, S.A. de C.V., is one of three BASF companies in that nation. The others are BASF Mexicana, which is devoted to the plastics, fine chemicals and agricultural chemicals industries; and Polioles, a BASF joint venture with Grupo Alfa that produces Styropor® expandable polystyrene.
