Business Tools | Thursday July 19 AutoNation Names Marc Cannon Vice President, Corporate CommunicationsFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- AutoNation, Inc., America's largest automotive retailer, has named Marc Cannon as the Company's new Vice President of Corporate Communications. In his new role, Mr. Cannon will oversee the Company's internal and external communications efforts and report directly to AutoNation's Chief Executive Officer, Mike Jackson. His appointment is effective immediately. Most recently, Mr. Cannon served as Chief Marketing Officer at Fort Lauderdale-based Blue Dot, America's premier provider of cooling, heating and related services. His background also includes a significant period serving AutoNation's predecessor company, Republic Industries, and former Republic Industries holdings such as Alamo Rent-A-Car and AutoNation USA. At Alamo, Mr. Cannon served as Vice President of Advertising during the company's rapid rise to becoming America's number one vehicle rental business for leisure travelers. At AutoNation USA, Mr. Cannon played an important role in the creating, designing and launching of the AutoNation USA brand. At Republic Industries, he served as Vice President of Internal Communications, contributing to the development of the company's corporate brand, its Intranet web site and its shareholder web site. "Marc Cannon will be launching a new era for Corporate Communications at AutoNation as he brings to our company the enthusiasm and creativeness that has led to his successful communications career," Mr. Jackson said.
