DuPont Automotive Finishes Certification Courses Recognized by I-CAR

WILMINGTON, Del. -- Two DuPont Automotive Finishes Certification courses have been recognized by I-CAR® as part of the new I-CAR® Industry Training Alliance Program.

DuPont ChromaSystem® Certification and Color Adjustment/Tri-Coat Repair Certification courses offer a total of seven I-CAR Gold Class Points to refinish technicians who successfully complete both programs. These points apply to both the Gold Class Professionals® and Platinum Individual programs. DuPont developed the courses based on strict original equipment manufacturer performance requirements for refinishing.

Commenting on the Training Alliance, Roger Foss, chairman of the board of I-CAR, said, "We feel this is an important step toward achieving I-CAR's stated mission, which is to insure every person in the collision industry has the necessary knowledge and skills relevant to their position to insure a safe and complete repair. We're very pleased to have quality training providers like DuPont as partners in this effort."

Added Steffen Apollo, national training manager for DuPont: "Our partnership with I-CAR should provide further incentive for technicians to complete these courses and thereby increase their skills and professionalism."

The objective of the DuPont ChromaSystem® Certification course is to instruct and assess the refinish technician's knowledge and ability in the areas of shop safety, paint application, blending, detailing, measuring film build, and plastic refinishing. Participants are expected to satisfactorily perform a repair and successfully complete a written knowledge assessment as part of this program. A refinish technician earns four Gold Class Points for completing this course.

The DuPont Color Adjustment/Tri-Coat Repair Certification course instructs and assesses the refinish Technician's knowledge and ability in the areas of tri-coat repair, color retrievability, color match, and blending. Participants are expected to satisfactorily identify and mix colors, perform a repair and successfully complete a written knowledge assessment. Participants earn three Gold Class Points upon completing this program.
