CCAR's Sixth Annual "Automotive Career Education Day" Reaches Over 4,000 Schools

OVERLAND PARK, KAN. -- More than 4,000 schools and 200,000 students participated in "Automotive Career Education Day," sponsored by the Coordinating Committee For Automotive Repair (CCAR).

"Automotive Career Education Day" (ACED) is sponsored by CCAR to educate students from pre- through post-secondary levels about career opportunities available in all aspects of the automotive industry.

ACED 2001 is underwritten by the following Industry Partners: Gold Partner, CARQUEST Corporation, Silver Partners, American Honda Automotive Youth Educational Systems, BASF Corporation, Sunoco Ultra Service Centers, Bronze Partners, CARSTAR, Inc., Ford Customer Service Division/Crash Parts, National Automobile Dealers Association, Mitsubishi Motors, Orison Marketing, L.L.C., and Universal Technical Institute, Inc..

Friends of ACED are: Automotive Engine Rebuilders Association (in-kind), Automotive Oil Change Association, Car Care Council (in-kind) Lube Stop, Inc., Motorist Assurance Program, New Prospect Foundation, Toyota, T-TEN, and Universal Underwriters Group

All elements of the ACED program are made available to participating schools at no cost. These include: a special video presentation offering students a glimpse of real-life career opportunities in the industry; a full-color "Career Development Poster," presenting detailed salary information to students for a full-range of positions from automobile dealers to collision repair shops; and a resource manual for schools, with ideas for conducting ACED-related events and working with ACED Industry Partners in their area.

CCAR is a national not-for-profit organization, established in 1994 to enhance the professionalism and image of automotive technicians. CCAR's more than 200 affiliates represent all segments of the automotive service and collision repair industry, including vehicle manufacturers and dealers, national automotive chains and local repair shops, and colleges and universities offering training in automotive service and collision repair.

CCAR also operates "CCAR-GreenLink®," the national environmental compliance assistance center for the automotive industry.

For more information on "Automotive Career Education Day," contact Mark Claypool, ACED Program Manager, at 1-888-686-4445, or claypool@ccar-greenlink.org.
