Business Tools | Tuesday October 30 Akzo Nobel Announces Autobase PlusATLANTA -- Akzo Nobel has introduced Autobase Plus, the next generation of Sikkens Autobase. Since Akzo Nobel brought Autobase, the industry's first urethane technology to North America in 1983, they've offered technologically advanced and innovative products that ensure a glossy, durable finish the first time, every time. According to Akzo Nobel General Manager Rob Molenaar, "Autobase has been the industry leader in color match for more than two decades." In addition to giving shops a great color match, Autobase Plus offers better coverage, sprayability and metallic control than even, according to Molenaar, the original Autobase product. With Autobase Plus, pouring and mixing are foolproof because all of the toners have a similar consistency. Autobase Plus has thousands of formulas for solids, metallic and pearls, which will allow painters to match perfectly the color of any car that goes through a shop. In addition, with Autobase Plus there is no going back and forth to the mixing scale. Regardless of make or model, Autobase Plus allows painters to make the exact color match in just minutes. Testing has given Autobase Plus high marks in terms of increasing throughput, thanks to its faster application time and higher degree of hiding with less paint. Autobase Plus is a true basecoat, so painters can count on it for exceptional sprayability, and flash is fast - just three to five minutes between coats and 15-20 minutes before taping or clear coating. While Autobase Plus increases throughput, it also decreases materials usage, which means shops can repair more cars while reducing the unit rate per repair. In addition, Akzo Nobel claims that tests show that Autobase Plus actually can cut materials usage in half - from two liters down to one liter in most cases. In addition, Autobase Plus features a new and proprietary binder technology that produces a consistent metallic orientation and halos virtually never appear.
