Business Tools | Friday November 30 Automotive Recyclers Association Announces Appointment of Phil Sheppard as Association PresidentFAIRFAX, VA -- The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA), the international association that represents professional automotive recyclers, has inaugurated Phil Sheppard as President. Sheppard, a member of ARA since 1987, is the Vice-President of Calgary Pick Your Part in Calgary, Alberta; Edmonton Pick Your Part in Edmonton, Alberta; Kelowna Pick Your Part in Kelowna, B.C., Canada; as well as Pull-N-Save Auto Parts, LLC in Aurora, Colorado. His experience in the industry running four auto recycling facilities allowed him to develop a very solid understanding of the automotive recycling industry. Sheppard has a long history of ARA service: He has served on the executive committee since 1998, including roles such as Secretary and Treasurer; along with service on committees such as the ARA Budget Committee, ARA Academic Advisory Committee, ARA Membership Committee and the ARA Educational Foundation. Watching the automotive recycling industry change has given him much perspective. "This industry has undergone enormous amounts of change the past few years," Sheppard says. "What many of our members have realized is that all of this change translates into opportunity for them. A chance to increase their customer base or market reach, and that is good news for both the businesses themselves and the industry as a whole." Sheppard also says that ARA has changed more in the last two years than in the last 20. "I feel that ARA has undergone some groundbreaking change in a short period of time." He adds, "The organization is communicating more-and better than ever before, our officers are the most accessible and involved that they have ever been, and most importantly, our members have the greatest voice that they ever have had in regards to determining the direction of their association. I am happy to have an opportunity to advance the association as a whole." Founded in 1943, the Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) has represented an industry dedicated to the efficient removal and reuse of automotive parts, and the proper disposal of inoperable motor vehicles. ©2000 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED INSIGHT Supports the NABC! |
