Michael J. Harley Appointed President and COO for Payless Car Rental
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- Avalon Global Group, Inc., the parent company of Payless Car Rental System, Inc., has announced the appointment of travel industry veteran Michael J. Harley as president and chief operating officer (COO). Harley has served as COO since 1999 and was recently appointed the dual role of president and COO.
Harley is the catalyst behind Payless Car Rental System's strategy to double the number of its franchises by 2002 and quadruple revenue. Under his management from 1983 to 1992 Payless' automated and voice reservations increased by 2000 percent. From 1993 to 1998, Harley was president of an international destination marketing company that later went public, and owner of a $5 million travel agency.
Returning to Payless in 1998, and becoming COO in 1999, Harley led the technology developments that support Payless' aggressive growth strategy and maximizes the company's Internet presence.
Payless Car Rental is a privately held corporation headquartered in St. Petersburg, Florida with over 135 worldwide franchise locations.
