Business Tools | Tuesday March 26 Ontario Invests $327,000 to Assist Auto Body and Collision Repair Pre-Apprenticeship TrainingAs part of an investment of $3.7 million dollars for skilled workers, the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities announced assistance to help 400 people who want a career in skilled trades. Forty of those will be entering a new auto body and collision repair training course at Algonquin College in Ottawa and at Mohawk College in Stoney Creek. The Mohawk College program is offered in partnership with the YMCA/YWCA of Burlington, the Hamilton District Autobody Repair Association and the Collision Industry Action Group. The course includes lifeskills workshops, work placement for up to 16 weeks at no charge to an employer and 12 weeks of instruction at Mohawk College's autobody and collision repair lab. There is no cost for the student. Students can participate in a course providing instruction in technical training that will prepare them to be eligible to become an apprentice. The target audience are those 16-30 years old.
