Hertz Expands Into China

Hertz is the first global car rental company to operate in China, opening several locations in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. Hertz signed an agreement with China National Automobile Anhua (Tianjin) International Trade Company (CNAA) which is Hertz' licensee in China. Hertz will operate in China under the trade name "Hertz China."

Hertz China has rental locations in downtown Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, and at Beijing Capital Airport (addresses below), and a rental fleet with a range of domestic, imported and joint venture vehicles. Customers may rent or lease chauffeur-driven vehicles, with 48-hour advance notice, and customers with a Chinese national license may also rent or lease on a self-drive basis.

Brian J. Kennedy, Hertz Executive Vice President for Marketing and Sales, said "The agreement with CNAA makes Hertz the first global car rental company to operate in the promising Chinese market. The agreement pairs the leading worldwide car rental company with a quality, local firm, an arrangement that should result in more business in China as well as more overseas Hertz rentals by Chinese businesspeople, tourists, and officials."

Li Gang, President of CNAA, said, "Car rental customers in China are sophisticated and expect the highest quality products and services. Our local strength, combined with Hertz' superior products and services, enables us to offer the best car rental experience for our business and leisure customers in three major Chinese cities."

Wong Soon Hwa, Hertz Managing Director, Asia & Japan, added, "There is growing demand for car rental services by local and multi-national companies. What China lacks today is a world-class car rental company that offers products and services locally and globally. With CNAA's local presence and Hertz' international operations, our Chinese customers will receive the highest levels of service in major Chinese cities and across our extensive worldwide network."
