Pep Boys Promotes Babich to President

The Pep Boys, the full service automotive aftermarket chain, announced that George Babich, Jr., 50, who has served as Executive Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, was promoted to President & Chief Financial Officer.

Mitchell G. Leibovitz, the Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, served as President since 1986.

Mr. Leibovitz commented, "George has done an extraordinary job as our Executive Vice President & CFO. He played a key role in our highly successful Profit Enhancement Plan and will increase his involvement in our non-financial areas. In addition to pursuing strategic opportunities, the expansion of George's responsibility will enable me to devote the lion's share of my time to increase sales."

Pep Boys has 628 stores and over 6,500 service bays in 36 states and Puerto Rico. Along with its vehicle repair and maintenance capabilities, the company also serves the commercial auto parts delivery market and is one of the leading sellers of replacement tires in the United States.
