The Largest Paint Body & Equipment Event of its Kind in Canada

AIA, CCIF and I-CAR have organized the largest paint body & equipment event of its kind in Canada by holding three events at one time. The activities begin on Thursday, May 2 with I-CAR’s three-day meeting. CCIF is holding its meetings on Friday, May 3, and the AIA Trade Show runs from May 3 to May 5, featuring keynote PBE speakers and seminars.

AIA’s biennial trade show is being held May 3 to 5, 2002, in Toronto, Ontario. The Paint, Body, and Equipment section of the Show is the largest of its kind in Canada. The AIA Trade Show will feature the following events:

  • Well-known collision industry consultant Scott Biggs will speak about 10 Steps to a Better Collision Repair Business. The Scott Biggs Seminar will be held on Saturday May 4, 2002, from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon or from 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm at the International Centre.
  • WHMIS for Collision Repairers is a modified OSSA version of the WHMIS training and is video and workbook based. The course deals with symbols, MSDS, diesel, isocyanates, shop safety and welding safety. By successfully completing all components of this course, participants will receive a completion certificate that is Ministry of Labour accepted and valid for three years. The WHMIS Seminar will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2002, at the International Centre from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
  • Fun Night on Saturday night (May 4) at the International Plaza Hotel, will be the most important social networking event at the AIA Show. With an expected crowd of over 500 people and a racing theme this event promises to be good fun and good times. The evening will include race track racing and video terminal racing and special guests - five racecars and their drivers.
  • I-CAR's semi annual meeting will be held from May 2 to May 4 at the International Plaza. The I-CAR agenda includes Instructor day on May 2, Adhesive Bonding Program, Worker Protection Program, Heating and Cooling Systems Program, I-CAR General Session, Awards Luncheon, Committee Workshop, and Gold Class Workshops.
  • CCIF is holding its spring meeting on Friday, May 3 to give progress reports on several CCIF action groups. The meetings will also include workshops on issues of importance to the PBE industry, such as:
    • Shop accreditation
    • What needs to happen in the industry to improve the success of your business
    • Attracting young people into the collision repair industry
    • Training and developing skills of people in the industry already
    • OEM parts versus aftermarket parts
    • Improving the image of industry
    • Gaining industry respect, success and profitability.
