Business Tools | Wednesday May 8 Jui Li Acts in Response to Shop ComplaintAs part of Jui Li's recent investigation into a 1995 Toyota Tacoma hood, the company's U.S. representative, David Chen, visited the body shop within days of notification of the incident. The incident was originally reported by Charlie Barone in Auto Body on Line on Friday, March 22. Chen and P.O.Y. Distributor Steve Bollander visited the shop on Wednesday, March 27. Bollander, current President of the Auto Body Parts Association (ABPA), which represents the distributors of aftermarket body parts, also visited the shop on Saturday, March 23. P.O.Y. sold the part to the shop, which is an OEM dealership. While Barone was given enough information to write an article during the previous week, Chen and Bollander were denied access to the vehicle and the technician by the shop manager. In spite of that, Jui Li and CAPA each launched aggressive investigations. Jui Li has no current inventory of the part or lot in question, manufactured in February 2001. However, the company does have a sample of the sub assembly panel of the primary striker and secondary latch receiver from that lot. Shortly after production of the February 2001 lot, this component was redesigned. While there is no indication that the original design was the cause of the incident, both CAPA and Jui Li have decided to take the following steps to avoid further concern:
