PPG to Offer Technical Training for Ford Masters Program

The PPG Automotive Refinish Training Department has been selected to provide technician training for the Ford Motor Company Masters program, which recognizes excellence in technical training.

The program, which began April 1, 2002, is designed to recognize and reward collision repair technicians for their training accomplishments and experience. Technicians can be recognized as Specialists and Masters for completing the training requirements in this all-new collision repair training program.

Participants in the Light Repair Master's program can take required refinish training from PPG instructors at PPG Business Development Centers across North America. These training centers are equipped with downdraft spray booths and all other equipment necessary for hands-on training. Other types of training for the program are available through I-CAR as well as Ford equipment manufacturer suppliers.

In order to achieve Master or Senior Master status, technicians are required to have at least three years of service at a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury Dealership. Those who complete the training will receive a variety of awards including a certificate, embroidered uniform patches, plaques, trophies and other awards, depending on their level of accomplishment.

"This new Ford program is directed at the technicians and mechanics who repair and refinish cars with the ultimate goal of providing overall customer satisfaction for thousands of Ford/Lincoln/Mercury dealerships," said Russ Boston, director of training for PPG Automotive Refinish. "We look forward to participating in the program and helping Ford reach their goal through training the individuals who will ultimately provide that end level of customer satisfaction for the Ford brand."

The PPG Automotive Refinish Training Department trains over 12,000 technicians and business owners and managers each year. In addition to technician training, the department offers management training, distributor training, vocational instructor training and insurance personnel training. A shop layout and design service is also offered through the training department.
