Jury Awards Ex-State Farm Agents $12.6 Million

A Mendocino County Superior Court jury, after deciding that State Farm acted with malice toward its former agents, John W. Wier and Richard L. Pyorres, has added $6 million in punitive damages to a $6.6 million amount granted to the men to compensate them for lost commissions and emotional distress. The two former State Farm Insurance agents had been blocked from selling competing policies to former customers after State Farm fired them in 1999.
