Business Tools | Friday October 4 AAIA Releases Collision Repair Trends Report Indicating Size of the Collision Repair Industry Increased Nearly 20 Percent Since 1997Total sales by collision repair shops increased 19.7 percent since 1997 to $33.9 billion, according to Collision Repair Trends: Industry Statistics and Analysis, just released by the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA).This figure is considerably higher than INSIGHT's overall figure of $28.3 billion. The excess can, in part be accounted for by accessory and additional item purchases. The study also found that collision repair shops remain PBE jobbers' largest group of customers. In 2001, PBE jobbers' sales declined 3.4 percent to $2.8 billion. However, PBE jobbers' sales are forecast to expand in 2002.
