Business Tools | Thursday November 14 ASA Unveils Redesigned WebsiteReflecting the increased demand for timely industry information, member services and consumer exposure, the Automotive Service Association (ASA) recently unveiled a major redesign of The website. The website, which was initially launched in 1995, now includes a reorganized format, innovative functionality and interactive content that provides a gateway for ASA members, industry professionals and consumers alike. One of the major enhancements to ASA's website is the ability for current ASA National members to renew their membership online. Using secure pages, members can complete a simple form that renews their dues, and accessibility to ASA's 30-plus membership benefits, for another year. In addition, prospective members can join the association online 24 hours a day, seven days a week, allowing more convenience for busy automotive repair shop owners. Both features can be found in a reorganized membership section titled "Membership Info." To heighten consumer awareness of ASA and the automotive industry as a whole, many sections on the ASA website have been revamped to enhance ASA's presence within the motoring public. Since the site's inception, the "Find Nearest ASA Shop" section has been used by hundreds of thousands of consumers looking for a reliable repair shop in their area. The section has been expanded to include both simple and advanced search capabilities, giving the consumer the best possible results based on their search criteria. Automotive professionals can also turn to the new ASA website to meet the demanding needs of the industry. A revamped "Employment Classified" section allows professionals to post their resume or search through jobs in ASA-member shops free of charge. In addition, AUTOINC. Online, the online version of ASA's official publication, provides professionals with a host of technical and association articles. In addition to a new look and noticeable graphic approach, many sections have become easier to navigate, increasing the site's ease of use. The "Membership Benefits" section is now divided into a categorized listing, allowing for easy-to-find benefit providers and the products and services they offer. Interactive forms also make it easier to inquire about additional information for each benefit. The redesign features significant improvements to ASA's search engine as well. Indexing thousands of pages, the search engine now incorporates a keyword search mechanism, narrowing searches considerably and allowing the best possible results. The search engine is updated on a daily basis. Many of the website's most popular sections, such as "Automotive Tips," "Related Links," "Legislation," "ASA Events" and "Division Newsletters," are still intact and continue to provides important information to members, professionals and consumers alike. "Since its inception, the ASA website has always been a vehicle to disseminate important information to the industry," said Ron Pyle, ASA's president and chief staff executive. "The unveiling of this redesign effort is a reflection of the direction we are taking to continually offer our membership, and the industry as a whole, the information they need. In addition, we hope to better enhance motorists' awareness of the Automotive Service Association and its 12,000 member businesses and build an evolving communication effort with the motoring public worldwide. No other medium gives us such capabilities like the Internet." ©2002 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
