Business Tools | Friday November 15 PPG's Carl Riggenbach Earns AMI Accredited Automotive Manager DegreeCarl Riggenbach, a territory manager for PPG Automotive Refinish, has earned the Automotive Management Institute Accredited Automotive Manager (AAM) degree. AMI is a not-for-profit educational foundation supported by manufacturers, associations, distributors, industry publications, and individual shop owners and managers.The AMI curriculum consists of over 350 courses taught by more than 100 faculty members. Students earn the AAM designation after completing 120 credits of AMI education and a requisite self-study course. The courses are designed to provide management education specifically for automotive service professionals. Riggenbach graduated from Kent State University with a B.A. in Business Administration. His background includes experience at a new car dealership, as a frame technician, suspension mechanic, as a customer representative, technical representative and a business coordinator. From 1981 to 1991 he worked for PPG Platinum Distributor Hopkins & Kipp in Ohio. He has been with PPG since 1991. In addition to his AAM degree, Riggenbach is ASE certified and has attended ICAR classes, Collision Frame School and has attended over 250 hours of Industry Seminars. According to Don Askew, director, distribution programs for PPG Automotive Refinish, "Carl has made a tremendous contribution to PPG. We encourage all our personnel to attend training classes and seminars to keep up to date and expand their technical expertise and industry knowledge.
