CIECA Elects 2003 Board of Trustee Officers

The CIECA Board of Trustees has elected the following officers for the year 2003:
  • Chairman - Rick Palmer, President and CEO of ComputerLogic, Inc., has served on the board of CIECA for the past four years. He has been involved with CIECA since its inception and participated on many of the CIECA standards committees. Over the past three years he has served as Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary of the organization.
  • Vice Chair - Darrell Ebert has been in the automobile industry for nearly 30 years with his early origins in the repair segment. Darrell joined Allstate Insurance Company in 1975. He has performed many functions within the Claim Department and has, for the past 16 years, been responsible for development of systems and technology to assist Allstate customers, employees, agents, and business partners. He has been involved in electronic commerce since 1992, specifically, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), and electronic standards development. Recently, he has been exploring WEB based applications in the insurance industry.

    Darrell was an early participant in CIEDIS and has been an active CIECA Board member for the past seven years attending board meetings, participating in the Operations, Nominating, and other various subcommittees. In his new position, Darrell will Chair the Operations Committee.

  • Treasurer - Kelly (Roe) Swenson is a second-generation collision repairer. She is co-owner of Carty's Collision Center on Ontario, CA with her father Mike McCarty.

    Kelly is an I-CAR instructor and award winner. In 1999 she was selected as one of the industry's most influential women. She was awarded CAA member of the year in 1998 and she is a recipient of the NABC Collision Industry Pride Award for her work in eradicating illiteracy. She is currently first vice president of the CAA (California Autobody Association) and the proud mother of new baby boy.

  • Secretary - Terry M. Fortner is the Associate Vice President for Material Damage Technical Claims for Nationwide Insurance. Terry leads Nationwide's efforts in auto physical damage claims, Financial Structure Settlements, Single Point of Contact Business Process, Accelerated Claims Excellence and Blue Ribbon Centralized Team. Terry is a member of the CCC Industry Advisory Committee, I-CAR International Board, CIECA Board and Creative Living Board. In October of 2001, Terry accepted an industry award from the ABPA for his contributions to the industry. Terry holds a bachelor's degree in business management from Western Carolina University and resides with his wife Vikki in Westerville, Ohio.

Each of these officers will serve on the Executive Committee, which oversees CIECA business matters between board meetings and maintains the Board's agenda.

Farzam Afshar, an Industry Consultant, will assume the title of Past Chairman on the CIECA Executive Committee after ably serving his term of office.

CIECA assists the Collision Industry in the effective use of electronic commerce and the National Information Superhighway. It is directed by a Board of Trustees and has offices in Illinois. Its members jointly work on Action Teams addressing standards for Electronic Data Interchange, Interoperability, XML and Imaging.
