BASF Coatings Technical Support Center Receives Responsible Care Award

The Ohio Chemistry Technology Council has selected BASF's Coatings Technical Support Center (CTSC) in Whitehouse, Ohio, to receive the 2002 Award for Excellence in Responsible Care®. This marks the tenth consecutive year the site has been recognized with this award.

According to the Council, the BASF facility's Responsible Care program "represents a vital, sustained initiative that is making a difference - both in environmental performance and in the on-going effort to demonstrate to the public our industry's commitment to the communities in which we live and do business." The Council's judges are drawn from the education field, the government and the general public, as well as from the chemical industry.

"We are extremely pleased to receive the Council's award because it recognizes our team's hard work and commitment to a better environment and community," said Ken Perry, Technical Director, BASF Automotive Refinish. "As a leading member of the chemical industry, we are committed to making high quality products that truly make an important and positive difference in everyday life and, at the same time, to demonstrate our commitment to protecting the environment and to being an active part of our communities."

BASF's CTSC, located west of Toledo, provides a wide range of R&D, technical information and customer support services for the company's Automotive Refinish, Automotive OEM and Industrial Coatings businesses. The site is also home to BASF's Automotive Refinish Application and Training Center, which develops training programs and offers advanced, hands-on classes for BASF's collision-repair customers. BASF training has been integrated into automotive technician education programs certified by industry organizations I-CAR and CASE.
