Business Tools | Thursday February 27 VehicleStore.com Partners With National City for New Dealer-To-Dealer Wholesale Automotive Shopping SiteJohn Russo, vice president of Tactical Computer Company, has announced the debut of a new online wholesale automotive marketplace for vehicle dealers, wholesalers and lenders. The site is an enhanced classified directory, which will feature thousands of vehicles from dealers, lenders, and remarketing companies all over the United States. In the Midwest, National City Corporation, one of the nation's ten largest banks, will be posting thousands of off- lease, repossessed and recreational vehicles to the site. National City will also be promoting the site to its network of 3,200 dealers."VehicleStore.com was the perfect counterpart to our efforts to connect thousands of dealers with our used vehicle inventory," said Greg Jelinek, executive vice president at National City. "The benefits and savings to dealers are well beyond what any other auction, online or off, can offer." According to a 2002 survey by the National Independent Auto Dealer Association, used vehicle dealers are buying 70 percent of their new and used vehicles from online and local auctions. Unlike some online auto auctions, VehicleStore.com is only open to authorized auto dealers and does not charge any registration or buyer fees to dealers seeking to purchase vehicles. For a base monthly charge of $399 dealers can upload and sell an unlimited number of vehicles. VehicleStore.com offers substantial savings to dealers accustomed to paying thousands of dollars each month in seller's fees for vehicles purchased at traditional and online auto auctions. Here, fees are only charged to dealers and other participants that want to sell vehicles on the site. A user-friendly inventory entry system allows dealership staff to upload vehicle information along with eight to ten photographs in a matter of minutes. Selling dealers also have the ability to export their inventory from VehicleStore.com to other retail automotive Web sites for no additional expense. "We wanted to develop a simple and cost effective way for dealers to sell their excess inventory," said John Russo. He continued, "By providing the functionality of a classified site with easy navigational tools, dealers have a new source to locate specific types of cars and trucks quickly and buy just the right vehicles for their inventory. Our partnership with National City will add an additional 5,000 vehicles to the site by midyear and provides the marketing muscle of the bank's sales staff calling on their 3,200 member dealer network." Additional functionality including maps and driving directions are included with each vehicle listing. While there is an asking price, buyers have the ability to make a counter-offer online and can view previous offers that were declined by the seller. This feature saves time for the buyer and the seller. Dealers can get additional information on the site or register at www.VehicleStore.com .
