Business Tools | Wednesday May 14 TARA and Planet Salvage Do NOT Have an AgreementBarry Rubin, President of American Auto Salvage and past president of TARA,contacted INSIGHT today to say that Planet Salvage did not in reality have an agreement with the Texas Automotive Recyclers Association (TARA) announced on May 13 by Planet Salvage. Confusion grew when the same announcement was seen posted on TARA's own website.Rubin commented, "While individual members of TARA may feel that Planet Salvage is a viable alternative for locating used parts, this issue has not even been discussed by our board. I personally feel that this is another attempt to put a third party in between the recycler and our customers, the body shops, in an attempt to dictate business practices." Debbie Lambing, current president of TARA, in a telephone interview, stated, "This arrangement, announced in a Planet Salvage press release, has not been approved by the TARA board. Therefore, the press release, which unfortunately was placed at the TARA website, will be removed immediately. The matter has already been scheduled for discussion at the June TARA board meeting. Nothing can be decided prior to the regular meeting." ©2003 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
