Summit Software Symposium Focuses on Shop Scheduling Technologies

Summit Software recently completed its first Shop Scheduling Symposium, “Speed to Profits”, held June 26th at the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. This session, attended by more then 30 industry leaders representing hundreds of collision repair facilities, focused on providing collision repairers and repair networks the opportunity to discuss and provide direct input into new shop scheduling technologies being designed by Summit to reduce cycle time, increase shop productivity, and improve communications throughout the collision repair process.

Attendees were introduced to several scheduling theories and the concepts of Speed as a Differentiator, Dynamic versus Static Scheduling, Theory of Constraint, MRP, Pre-Production Planning, and Repair Order Blueprinting. Included in the event was a detailed presentation by Randy Dewing, President of the Dewing Group, on the financial and production benefits of Mapping, Blueprinting, and other scheduling activities. Participants were also given an advance look at some of the new technologies Summit is evaluating and developing as well as the opportunity to complete a survey, which produced the following results:

  • 67% of respondents felt an integrated scheduling system would help them deliver an additional 3 or more vehicles per week.
  • 93% of the respondents stated they would replace their existing management system with one offering an integrated scheduling solution.

“The feedback we received was tremendous. The participants validated our assumptions that the collision repair market has a pent up demand for an affordable, easy to use, integrated scheduling and communications solution that helps them reduce cycle time”, said Frank Terlep, President of Summit Software.

Summit Software Solutions, Inc. is a business-to-business information technology provider that delivers information and communication management solutions to collision, mechanical, and truck repair businesses.
