Business Tools | Thursday November 20 SCRS KC/Topeka Chapter Hosts Successful Meeting with KDIThe Kansas City/Topeka Chapter of SCRS monthly meeting in November hosted a presentation by the Kansas Department of Insurance. Jim Welch, Director of Consumer Assistance and Market Conduct for the Kansas Department of Iinsurance (KDI), talked with over 70 collision repair people, vendors, and insurance companies on Insurance Rules and Regulations that affect the Collision Industry.Welch’s message was that quality and safety must be paramount in collision repair for the protection of the consumer, the insurance company, and the repair facility. He stated, “We have great concern that the consumer receive a safe/high quality repair and that the consumer is returned to a pre-accident condition." He continued, “It is the responsibility of both the insurer and the repair facility to see that this is accomplished when negotiating the repairs." Along with the remarks, Jim supplied the meeting participants with materials detailing Kansas laws as they apply to the repair process. David Horrocks, Chapter President, said, “As an association, we greatly appreciate the interest of the Kansas Department of Insurance in helping our industry better understand the complete claims/repair process. Open communication will benefit the industry in many ways and is sure to allow us to better serve the consumer."
