Aftermarket eForum Set for Chicago August 2-4

The 2004 Aftermarket eForum will be held Monday through Wednesday, August 2-4 in Chicago, Ill. and is expected to be another sell-out event, according to the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association (AAIA), which created the e-commerce educational forum in 2000.

In 2004 the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) will join AAIA, the Automotive Warehouse Distributors Association and the Automotive Industries Association of Canada in producing this industry-wide event.

This year’s eForum will be expanded to a two-and-a-half day format to include a variety of presentations and panels, breakout sessions and a vendor show. Among the more than 20 industry experts who will present and serve on panels are Bob Moore, Bob Moore & Partners; Jerry McCabe, Dana; Russ Bailey, Delphi; Mike Williams, O’Reilly Auto Parts; Bill Schlatterer, Parts Warehouse; Mark Bond, Quality Automotive; Paul Agather, Automotive Jobbers Supply and Scott Luckett, AAIA.

“The Aftermarket eForum is the first e-commerce conference dedicated exclusively to automotive aftermarket issues,” said Scott Luckett, AAIA vice president of technology standards and solutions. “The forum has built a reputation for its fast-paced no-fluff, non-commercial agenda and high caliber speakers who deliver solutions for businesses operating in all distribution channels of the aftermarket.”

Event sponsors to date include R.L. Polk, Comergent, Evant, Gcommerce, Prescient Technology, DST and WorldPac.

“Consolidating industry events and bringing more of the leading trade associations into this event will provide significantly more value to broader segments of the industry,” said Christopher Bates, president and CEO of MEMA. “The new Aftermarket eForum is yet another example of how increased collaboration can help in developing industry-wide solutions.”

“SEMA-member companies typically have different distribution channels than their counterparts in the repair and replacement parts segments of the aftermarket. Those service and repair counterparts have a history in electronic commerce experience that can date back as much as a quarter of a century. The eForum this summer will be a rich environment and a great opportunity for SEMA members to network and learn. We are delighted to be part of this industry-wide coalition," said Christopher J. Kersting, president and CEO of SEMA.
