Safety Wins Team Invites Fleet Drivers to Certified Safety Training at NASCAR Speedways

The Safety Wins team has invited fleet drivers to attend training at Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Charlotte, North Carolina on Wednesday May 26th and at Dover International Speedway in Dover Delaware on Friday June, 4th.

These full days begin at 8:00 am with defensive driver education conducted by certified National Safety Council trainers, a session on NASCAR safety by Busch Grand National series race driver Jimmy Kitchens, a pit tour and tickets to qualifying or practice races. All Safety Wins events are at no charge.

For more information about Safety Wins and how your drivers can participate in these events on May 26th and June 4th visit the Safety Wins website.

The goal of Safety Wins is to provide classroom training to professional drivers in order to positively influence a reduction in the leading cause of work-related death in the United States: motor vehicle crashes. Safety Wins is made possible by the Susan Harwood Training Program (Award # 46E3-HT42) through the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The program takes an innovative and positive reinforcement approach to awareness and education by holding safety training at NASCAR’s most exciting venues. Safety Wins is a cooperative project among the National Safety Council, Cavalier Home Builders, CEI/DriverCare and NASCAR Busch driver Jimmy Kitchens.

The Safety Wins program was launched in February of 2004 at the Daytona International Speedway during the “500” race week. To date drivers from some of the nation’s leading organizations have successfully completed Safety Wins training at NASCAR speedways in Daytona, Texas and Talladega. Upcoming sessions will be held at other NASCAR venues including Chicagoland Speedway in IL.
