Business Tools | Monday June 7 ASE Board of Directors Approves ReorganizationThe Board of Directors of the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) has approved a new structure to allow greater participation by the automotive industry. The new structure ensures improved governance by creating a Board of Governors and Industry Councils, along with an expanded Executive Committee to serve the function of the former Board of Directors.“The ASE Board of Directors has decided to make these adjustments in response to an evolving industry and changing needs,” said Bill Willis, ASE Chairman. “The new Industry Councils will allow a much greater participation by focusing on specific testing and business areas, while simultaneously allowing involvement by more individuals with expertise in those areas.” Key ASE staff members will be assigned to manage each Industry Council to coordinate information flow to the Board of Governors. “This new arrangement will allow ASE to get closer to the customer,” said Ron Weiner, ASE President. “By creating the new Councils, which will communicate through the Board of Governors, ASE is allowing greater participation by the industry at large.” Incorporated on June 12, 1972, the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence was established as a non-profit organization to help improve the quality of automotive service and repair through the voluntary testing and certification of automotive technicians and parts specialists. Today, there are more than 420,000 ASE- certified professionals who work in dealerships, independent shops, service stations, collision repair shops, auto parts stores, fleets, machine shops, schools and colleges throughout the country. ©2004 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
