Business Tools | Monday June 7 Industrial Chemicals Introduces New Wipes to Eliminate Old SolventsIndustrial Chemicals’ Sealant Removal Wipes, according to a company press release, quickly and cleanly remove all traces of splatter, overspray or spillage of sealants and mastics from bodywork and trim. These pre-saturated wipes eliminate the need for harsh solvents that can be harmful to the environment, damaging to vehicle paintwork, and hazardous to health. The wipes are made from non woven fabric that is wetted with a proprietary water-based formula which enables them to easily wipe away uncured or semi-cured polysulfide, polyurethane and silicone sealants without risk to paintwork, trim materials or personnel.Sealant Removal Wipes have found applications on the assembly line, in the paint shop, in the body shop, and especially in the direct glazing operations. The wipes pose no health hazards and produce no harmful vapours, so they can be handled without gloves or respirators. Being water-based, they are also non-flammable. A half-gallon pail contains 150 wipes that are pulled through a reclosable dispenser that prevents drying in storage. The wipes containing no volatile organic solvents, so they remain moist during use and allow more time to finish the job. The wipes are approved and in widespread use by European auto manufacturers. They have been recently adopted at a major U.S. assembly plant, and are now being introduced throughout the North American auto industry. ©2004 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
