Collision Industry Raises $1500 for National Children's Medical Hospital
Over $1500 was recently donated to the National Childrens Medical Hospital during a Collision Repair Industry meeting held in the Nation’s Capitol.“This donation, the result of a fundraising effort by the National Auto Body Council, will help us with our overwhelming demand for patient care from very young mothers. Those Funds will treat 160 young mothers and their new babies,” said Lisa Cantu Coordinator of Events and Promotions for the Children Hospital Foundation.
"Additionally, your support of the Kids Care Fund at Children's helps provide the basic needs that are often taken for granted but are essential to a child's care. Last year alone, Children's gave away over $54.5 million in uncompensated health care because many of our patients and their families are unable to afford the medical care they desperately need. With the help of donations such as yours, Children's can continue providing top quality health care to our patients in our region, our nation, and from around the world.”
“It isn’t just the National Auto Body Council involved with this,” said Barry Dorn, NABC’s project coordinator on this effort. “The Collision Industry Conference and the Society of Collision Repair Specialists also had meetings in the Alexandria, VA Historic District. They were both involved as well. The people who made this donation possible represent every segment of the Collision Industry, repairers, auto manufacturers, paint manufacturers, information providers and insurers.”
“On our own, as individuals and businesses, we attempt to have a positive impact in our own communities,” stated Chuck Sulkala, the Council’s Executive Director. “But our goal is to have a positive impact, as an industry, on the communities we visit throughout the course of a year. In addition to building a house for Habitat for Humanity, the industry, through NABC also donated over $500,000 last year to Camp Mak-A-Dream in Montana, a cost free, medically supervised camping experience for children and young adults undergoing active treatment for cancer.”
“It is difficult to appreciate what facilities such as this are going through,” commented Doug Webb, NABC Chairman. “But I am gratified that we are able to help. That is also to say that I thank National Childrens Medical Hospital for allowing us to help.”
As an Industry, we are made up of good people who do good things,” Sulkala concluded. “We annually award Pride Awards to people from our Industry who selflessly give of themselves in order to improve the world in which we all live. I think you saw a little of that today.”
