New ASA Web Site Taking the Hill by Storm

Since its initial launch in mid-March, the Automotive Service Association’s new grassroots Web site, www.TakingTheHill.com, has been responsible for sending more than 900 messages to elected federal and state officials.

Visitors to the site, which include shop owners and motorists alike, have used ASA’s Legislative Alert Center to send messages addressing insurer-owned repair shop legislation, Association Health Plans (AHPs) and opposition of the Motor Vehicle Right to Repair Act.

“ASA has been very successful in taking its grassroots lobbying to an entirely new level through its legislative Web site,” said Bob Redding, ASA’s Washington, D.C., representative. “Not only have we successfully mobilized the automotive repair industry in legislative efforts, we have seen an influx of consumers participating in our advocacy program as well. We will continue to provide up-to-date information on important issues impacting our industry and evolve our visibility on the state and federal levels even more in the upcoming months.”

As the 2004 election season rapidly approaches, ASA has expanded its legislative Web site to include a complete resource to inform visitors of important candidate information. The “2004 Election” section includes detailed candidate bios from local and federal levels, candidate voting records specific to the automotive repair and small business sectors, voter registration services and locations of polling sites.

ASA’s TakingTheHill.com site also includes comprehensive legislative reports, the ASA Action Network and Megavote e-mail lists, the ability to track important legislation, and the latest news on information availability and state insurer-owned repair shop legislation.
