Business Tools | Wednesday June 30 Alhambra Auto Kraft Does Custom Paint Job on D.A.R.E. Police CarChuck Reyes, manager of Alhambra Auto Kraft, wrote to INSIGHT about a great project his shop spearheaded for the Alhambra Police Department. He said:New Century BMW donated a 2003 BMW Mini Cooper to the City of Alhambra. The Police Chief Larry Lewis asked me to take this vehicle and make it appealing to today’s kids. I contacted Rudy Hernandez from Baker Paint and asked him if his company as well as PPG would donate all of the paint and supplies needed to complete this project. Our shop did a complete custom paint job on this vehicle using a mixture of candies and pearls. We put custom flames and stripes on the hood and doors. We then outlined them and had custom lettering added. We sent the seats to Apollo Interiors and had the seat embroidered with blue flames and the word D.A.R.E. on the headrests. We then had a stereo, DVD system and PA installed by Greg Sound. We replaced the stock wheels with 18” Chrome wheels and tires. The City added lights and siren, which makes this an official police vehicle that is pursuit ready. This car was featured at the annual D.A.R.E. Golf Tournament for the City of Alhambra in May and it will be at all police, D.A.R.E. Programs and city events. Look for it on the D.A.R.E. Website soon. ©2004 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
