Business Tools | Thursday August 5 BASF Launches UV-Cured Aerosol Undercoat with Primer-Filler CapabilityBASF has introduced an aerosol version of its UV-cured primer-filler named Glasurit 185-10 that promises auto body shops greater speed and convenience for small repairs, thus improving productivity. The new Glasurit 185-10 UV-cured primer-filler is an aerosol version of the recently introduced Glasurit 151-70 UV-cured primer-filler that is especially formulated and packaged to let painters do small repairs and cut-throughs. It offers convenience, better control of film thickness and all the advantages of immediate UV-curing. Both Glasurit UV-cured primer-fillers are one-component, ready-to-apply coatings that offer refinish painters fast, temperature-independent cure time, and easy one-coat VOC-compliant application. Unlike most other UV-cured coatings, Glasurit 151-70 and 185-10 can be used either as a primer or a filler. Both versions cure fully in two to three minutes under recommended UV-A lamps. Because Glasurit UV-cured primer-fillers fully cure in minutes, not hours, they deliver outstanding durability and chemical resistance immediately, with almost no chance of dieback during the curing process. Also the Glasurit primer-fillers can be cured by natural sunlight - usually in five to 20 minutes, depending on the UV intensity of the sunlight. "Body shops that perform a lot of spot and panel repairs will find that the speed and convenience of these new Glasurit primer-fillers offer tremendous value and can significantly enhance productivity, which translates into higher profitability," said Tony Dyach, Product Manager for BASF’s Glasurit product line. ©2004 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
