PPG Bodyshop Programs to Host PPG Refinish 2004 Performance Summit

The CertifiedFirst(TM) Network and MVP Services, two industry programs sponsored by PPG automotive refinish, have joined forces to host the PPG Refinish 2004 Performance Summit.

Themed “Driven by Performance,” the Summit provides an opportunity to harness the expertise of collision repair industry leaders from the MVP Congress and the CertifiedFirst Network to share best practices in areas critical to their overall business performance. Through the Summit, PPG plans to blend the best of its customer support programs to offer dealership and independent collision centers an event to help them continue to drive peak business performance.

The event, which begins on Friday, Oct. 15 and concludes Monday, Oct. 18, will take place at the Omni Orlando Resort, located in ChampionsGate, Fla.

“This venue is a natural extension to the value proposition PPG initially developed for our MVP Roundtable members, a meeting place for customers to exchange ideas, explore new management strategies and participate in training courses specifically tailored to their needs,” said Rich Altieri, general manager, MVP Services. “It’s an opportunity for our customers to sink their teeth into training sessions packed with realistic approaches and benefits to increasing throughput in their body shop business.”

The CertifiedFirst Network portion of the Summit will be focused on providing shop owners with ready-to-implement marketing and training programs and business-building tools to boost insurance referrals and repeat customers.

According to Georgina Sweeney, manager, CertifiedFirst Network, “This event will enable us to unveil the next generation of our CertifiedFirst Network program, including technology solutions for increased operational efficiencies and performance management. The Performance Summit will also feature representation from major insurance companies that will be of benefit to everyone in attendance.”

During evening Summit activities, PPG will host a special guest speaker, well-known in the industry for offering realistic inspirational and motivational tools for busy collision professionals.

The CertifiedFirst Network will also introduce a new awards program for collision repair shops, the Motor Trends awards program, at the event.

“We believe the Performance Summit will become one of the industry’s most effective events for driving performance,” said Jim Latch, general manager of Americas, PPG Refinish. “The PPG Refinish 2004 Performance Summit will assist our partners in remaining the recognized leaders in a very competitive market.”

The CertifiedFirst Network is a North American group of dealership and independently owned auto body repair centers. One of the most important aspects of the CertifiedFirst Network is that the standards required to be met by participating auto body repair centers are verified by independent third parties. The standards, consistent across the CertifiedFirst Network, are divided into two major categories – an evaluation of the repair center itself, on aspects ranging from its facilities to employee training, and measurement of the satisfaction level of the repair center’s customers.

PPG developed the MVP program in 1994 as a leading-edge collision center business development program, with its focus on improving the efficiency and growth of collision centers, regardless of size and structure. MVP program elements include benchmarking, training, on site support, specialized consulting, and roundtable conferences.
