Chicago Magazine Names Allstate One of Top Five Places to Work in Chicago

Chicago Magazine has named Allstate Insurance Company one of the "25 Best Places to Work in Chicago." The magazine first released its survey in 2000. Only six of the companies from the 2000 survey, including Allstate, made the 2004 list. Allstate is ranked Number 5 on this year's list.

"Allstate has remained steadfast even in changing economic times. This demonstrates that Allstate has a long-term commitment to investing in their employees," said Shane Tritsch, managing editor, Chicago Magazine.

Allstate employs more than 40,000 people, including 9,000 that work in the Chicagoland area.

"Allstate is in the business of providing peace of mind to the customers we serve. In order to do that, we need the best talent in the industry," said Joan M. Crockett, senior vice president, human resources, for Allstate. "All of our workplace strategies, including diversity and work/life initiatives, are aligned to enable our employees to effectively serve our customers."

"We're very proud of this recognition," said Anise Wiley-Little, director, diversity & work/life, Allstate. "It means a lot to our employees that we consistently demonstrate our commitment by providing a work environment where all employees can contribute to their full potential to meet business objectives."

In addition to the confidential survey of a random sampling of Allstate employees, the best-places-to-work criteria included a review of company policies, practices in pay, benefits, perks, turnover rates, training and opportunity for advancement, diversity, work-life balance, employee voice in the workplace and community involvement.

The entire list will be published in the October issue of Chicago Magazine.
