Business Tools | Monday September 27 OEConnection Selects SAVVIS to Power National Web-Based Automotive Parts Procurement & Logistics SolutionsSAVVIS Communications, a leading global IT utility, has been awarded a competitive contract to provide Intelligent Hosting(SM) services to OEConnection LLC, the provider of online supply chain and parts procurement solutions to the automotive industry.A joint venture between DaimlerChrysler Corporation, Ford Motor Company, General Motors, and ProQuest, OEConnection serves 11,000 automotive dealerships and collision repair facilities nationwide with Web-based ecommerce solutions to identify, locate and move original equipment repair parts more efficiently throughout the supply chain. The OEConnection service will now be hosted via the SAVVIS advanced Intelligent Hosting(SM) Area Network, which enables businesses to have a dedicated server and private network, without the high costs typically associated with this type of solution. By coupling its managed hosting and managed IP VPN services, SAVVIS is delivering a virtualized managed hosting service that integrates private networking capabilities, managed server platforms and IT operations services into a complete Intelligent Hosting solution. The result is a reduction in the complexities of the IT infrastructure, improved reliability, and reduced costs when compared with traditional hosting models. "Among the key reasons we selected SAVVIS for managed hosting services was their ability to provide industry-leading service level agreements, while lowering our overall expenditures," said Chuck Rotuno, President and CEO of OEConnection. "In addition, 100 percent of our product line is web-based, which, by its very nature, dictates the need for rapid and continuous deployments. SAVVIS' architecture allows us the flexibility we need to meet the timely and demanding information needs of our marketplace." "Winning the OEConnection contract is another example of the value that customers are seeing in SAVVIS's Intelligent Hosting services," said Jack Finlayson, SAVVIS President and Chief Operating Officer. "As OEConnection's business expands, its application goals and challenges will also expand. As that happens, SAVVIS will be in place to supply them with all of the high-end, redundant infrastructure and managed services support they require, but at a price point that meets their budget." ©2004 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
