Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Chosen as Exclusive Refinish Paint Supplier to Cadillac in China

Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes Corp. was recently selected as the sole refinish paint supplier for Cadillac by the Shanghai General Motors Company in China. The announcement was made jointly by Tony Molnar, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Sales Director for Asia Pacific, and Tom Branscome, Director of Global OEM Approvals for SWAFC.

“By choosing Sherwin-Williams, we can ensure the highest customer satisfaction and guarantee the mixing and spraying quality of Cadillac refinish paint, regulate the repair process and improve job efficiency,” said Xu Zhen Xian, Senior Manager, Cadillac, Shanghai. “Sherwin-Williams has a proven track record with us of providing outstanding service and support in improving our authorized General Motors Buick service centers.”

Extensive meetings with GM officials in Shanghai and rigorous product testing were just some of the requirements that SWAFC met before being selected.

“This is a tremendous recognition of our sales and technical service team in China, our products, and our company. China is an extremely important market for us, and this achievement furthers our commitment to the region,” explained Molnar.

As part of this arrangement, SWAFC Sales Representatives will provide all Cadillac dealerships in China with paint certification training, color instruction, advantage shop management training and a complete technical support plan for all authorized Cadillac service centers. In addition, SWAFC representatives will consult with individual Cadillac dealerships to help increase collision repair sales, improve production efficiencies, develop effective shop layouts and design, as well as implement effective cost controls.

“We have been very pleased with the service that our Buick dealerships have received from Sherwin-Williams in the past,” said Xian. “As we position Cadillac as the premier car brand in China, we wanted to ensure that we could provide our customers with the absolute best service, support and paint refinishing possible. That is why we selected Sherwin-Williams exclusively for all our refinishing needs.”

According to Branscome, “We enjoy an excellent relationship with General Motors through their worldwide GM4901M technical approval program. This recognition of our capabilities by one of the world’s most renowned car brands will add to our strong momentum in the Chinese market.”

Added Molnar, “After acquiring a majority shareholding in Shanghai Kinlita Chemical Co., Ltd earlier this year, Sherwin-Williams Automotive Finishes is well-positioned to serve the growing vehicle repair market in the region – a market that is estimated to reach $300 million by 2010.”
