Progressive Premiums Up but Profit Down in October
Progressive Corporation's October profit dropped 4 percent to $140.2 million from $145.7 million a year ago, but net premiums written and earned both rose 9 percent.Net premiums written during the month increased from $1.17 billion in October 2003 to $1.28 billion. Net premiums earned were up to $1.28 billion from $1.17 billion one year ago.
