Valspar Announces Appointments of Corporate Officers

The Valspar Corporation has announced the appointment of Kate Bass, Bern Ouimette and Steve Person as Corporate Vice Presidents effective December 8, 2004.

Kate Bass, Vice President Information Technology and Furniture Solutions Group joined Valspar in August 2000, as the Vice President of Information Technology. In November 2003, Bass assumed additional responsibilities as the General Manager for the Furniture Solutions Group which provides furniture care and repair products, as well as furniture protection plans in North America, the UK, and Australia. Prior to joining Valspar, Bass worked in various finance and information technology roles at Honeywell.

Bern Ouimette, Vice President Americas, Packaging Group, joined Valspar in January 2004 as Division Vice President, Sales and Marketing Americas, Packaging. Ouimette was promoted in October 2004 to his current position. Prior to joining Valspar, Ouimette worked for PPG Industries in a variety of businesses in the US and in Europe.

Steve Person, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Architectural Group, joined Valspar in May 1985 and has held increasingly responsible positions in sales, sales management and marketing in the Architectural Business Group. Prior to joining Valspar, Person worked for PPG Industries and for Magicolor Paint Co.

Commenting on these appointments, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Richard M. Rompala stated, "These promotions recognize the accomplishments of these outstanding employees.
