Valspar Names COO Mansfield to President and CEO
Valspar Corp., the maker of coatings for auto and appliance makers, has announced that Chief Operating Officer William L. Mansfield will succeed Richard M. Rompala as president and chief executive officer, effective Feb. 23.Rompala, who has served as CEO since 1995, will continue as chairman of the board to ensure a smooth transition.
Mansfield, 56, joined Mobil Chemical in 1977 and then Valspar after it purchased Mobil's coatings business in 1984. Much of his career has been spent leading Valspar's packaging coatings business and in 2000, he assumed additional responsibility for Valspar's architectural coatings business. Mansfield was named chief operating officer in April 2004.
