Business Tools | Tuesday February 8 ACCA Honors Herb Gerard for Lifetime Service in Collision Repair IndustryHerb Gerard, a man who devoted his entire life to the collision repair industry, was recently honored for his hard work and dedication at an Arizona Collision Craftsmen's Association (ACCA) member meeting.Gerard started working in a body shop as a helper to early lunch money at $.50 an hour. At the age of 19, he joined the Army/Air Force and after the war, he worked in a variety of body shops learning how to weld. By 1947, he became a full fledged professional body man. He eventually bought out a partner and owned his own body shop. In 2000, at 78 years of age, he developed the magazine The Arizona Collision Watchdog. Gerard continues publishing this industry journal to this day. Herb Gerard was presented the "Pioneer Award" by the ACCA. The Pioneer Award was developed by the association in an effort to recognize an individual for his/her contributions or achievements in the collision repair industry. "You have no idea how honored I feel to receive this award. Thank you to ACCA members and supporters for this wonderful honor. I really appreciate this," stated Herb Gerard. "Gerard is invaluable to the Arizona collision repair industry. His lifelong dedication to the industry is a great inspiration to his family, friends and collision repair professionals nationwide," stated Cindy Backes, ACCA director.
