Richard Kull Honored As 2005 Recipient of AIADA Lifetime Achievement Award

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) has honored past chairman Richard Kull of the Burns-Kull Automotive Group of New Jersey, with the association’s highest award, the AIADA Lifetime Achievement Award. The award was presented at AIADA’s 35th Annual Meeting and Luncheon held in New Orleans.

“He’s the best at what he does. His Honda dealership has been local and regional sales leaders since the early 1970s, no small feat in the highly competitive Philadelphia Area Designated Market,” remarked AIADA’s 2004 Chairman Buzz Rodland, who presented the award. “Believe me, he’s given to more charities in time and treasure, and he’s been involved in more local community efforts, and lent his time and resources to more worthy causes than we have time to name.”

Kull got his start in the auto industry as a salesman, rising quickly through the ranks until, after only ten years, he opened the first of what would eventually become several dealerships. Today, Burns-Kull Automotive Group of New Jersey is comprised of seven dealerships in New Jersey. Kull has been a member of AIADA for the past 33 years.

Chairman of AIADA in 2001, Kull continues to serve on the Board of Directors and is a member of the AFIT-PAC board. Other previous leadership positions include, Chairman of the Acura National Dealers Council and President of the South Florida Acura Dealers Advertising Group.

Active in his community, Kull has given generously to the American Heart Association, serving as Chairman of the Upper Atlantic Region of the American Heart Association, and the New Jersey Heart Association, where he was responsible for fundraising.

“It’s a nice feeling, having worked your whole life, and now be thanked for it,” remarked Kull. “AIADA is a valuable organization that represents interests peculiar to our industry. More dealers should find the time to support an association that supports them.”

Founded in 1970, AIADA represents the 10,000 American automobile dealerships that sell and service international nameplate brands.
