SCRS Affiliate Associations Unite on Two-Way Communication Petition

The Society of Collision Repair Specialists’ (SCRS) petition in favor of two-way communication between like estimating systems continues to gain support from a broad base of industry professionals, having secured the signatures of 22 state SCRS Affiliate Associations in addition to several non-affiliate associations.

“Collision repairers (as well as others) are forced to spend a ridiculous amount of time re-keying data that could easily be transmitted to them electronically,” said Barbara Crest, Executive Director of the Northwest Automotive Trades Association, headquartered in Portland, Oregon. “This is a needless waste of resources, and a cost this industry should no longer bear.”

Pat Gisler, Executive Director of ASC of Kentucky—which also represents suppliers and body shops in six southern Indiana counties—said the members of her association felt a similar urgency to back the petition. “With every passing day, collision repairers are faced with more and more overhead costs,” she said. “Two-way communication, the way it is being proposed, has the potential to reduce overhead costs and offset that trend through the use of technology. The industry really needs it, and the time is now.”

“Our members wasted no time getting behind the two-way communication petition,” stated Katherine Christensen, Executive Director of the Arizona Collision Craftsmen’s Association,” because they saw the opportunity to eliminate inefficiencies in the current process. The bottom line is that this technology will help repairers streamline processes, reduce wasted administrative time re-keying estimates and enhance the repair experience for our customer.”

The following is a complete list of SCRS Affiliate Associations and non-affiliated associations that have endorsed the two-way communication petition:

  • AASP – New Jersey
