BASF Coatings Developed Paints for Rolls-Royce Centenary Phantom
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of Rolls-Royce, the British automaker has made 35 limited edition vehicles known as the Centenary Phantoms. Paints from BASF Coatings make its finish really shine. The bodies of the luxury limousines will be painted in “Dark Curzon”; while the wheel rims will radiate a “Meteor Silver” color protected by a matte clearcoat. BASF Coatings developed both colors especially for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.BASF Coatings is the sole supplier of Rolls-Royce OEM paints. It is also a key partner for Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in the area of automotive refinish paints. Both companies entered into a contractual agreement in February 2003 in Munich, Germany.
The agreement provides for BASF Coatings AG to supply automotive refinish paints throughout the world, making it the sole contract partner of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in this area. BASF Coatings ensures the global supply of refinish paints to the Rolls-Royce Motor Cars service network. There are also other reasons for the alliance: One is the increased efficiency that results from supplying both OEM and refinish paints from a single source. Another is that both paint systems come from a single laboratory.
