Business Tools | Friday May 20 Farmers Insurance Awards Insurance to LA StudentThe Farmers Insurance Group of Companies is proud to announce it is providing one year's auto insurance to a Los Angeles Unified School District high school student. The student is a winner of the Count Me In! program - a program that helps students improve their school attendance. The student was honored at Dodger Stadium on May 17, during the pre-game ceremonies. Presenting the award from Farmers was Kevin Kelso, President of Farmers Personal Lines. Farmers is also announcing it is giving its Y.E.S. program (You're Essential to Safety) - an award winning teen driving safety video and workbook - to every high school in the Los Angeles Unified School District.Farmers became involved with the Los Angeles Unified School District after it heard about their new campaign to improve student attendance district-wide in 2004-2005. The LAUSD program, called Count Me In!, is geared to increase student learning and graduation rates to prepare students for a positive future. The goal of the program is to engage students and improve their understanding about the importance of regular school attendance. "We are in full support of LAUSD's efforts to communicate the importance of student attendance," said Kevin Kelso. "We are glad to participate in Count Me In! by providing insurance to the student with exceptional attendance.," "We are overwhelmed at the willingness of Farmers Insurance to support this program in such a generous way. It is one thing for a student to receive a free car," said schools superintendent Roy Romer, "but providing the insurance is a gift of major proportion. The generosity displayed by Farmers demonstrates the kind of civic partnership that is so important in educating our young people." The Farmers Insurance Group of Companies, the nation's third-largest Personal Lines Property & Casualty insurer, has multiple education programs available to teachers such as the Y.E.S. program, the American Promise and the Bronze Screen. ©2005 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
