Business Tools | Thursday June 2 Montana Collision Repair Specialists Affiliate with SCRSThe Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) has announced that the Montana Collision Repair Specialists (MCRS) has become the newest SCRS Affiliate Association. The statewide organization, headquartered in Billings, has been in existence since the 1980s and is gaining a solid reputation as a lobbyist for collision repair concerns, largely because of its role in helping implement tougher anti-steering legislation in Montana. MCRS is also experiencing a period of accelerated growth, and with total membership climbing past 50, the association felt it was time to find added sources of value for its members. “Our primary goal is to provide the kind of useful knowledge our members need to elevate their professionalism and run their businesses better,” explained MCRS President Max Yates. “Affiliating with SCRS puts us in a position to do that well. They are an open channel to the rest of the industry, which provides useful perspective and reinforcement, and they don’t hesitate to work with other national associations when necessary, which gives our industry a unified and effective voice.” Montana members were particularly impressed by a talk given by SCRS Executive Director Dan Risley as part of MCRS’ spring meeting. “Our members felt that Dan shared a wealth of information concerning our industry and its changes in just that one hour,” says MCRS Treasurer Donna Fastenau. “Dan covered everything from what to watch for in terms of aluminum car repairs to the data that is available from information providers regarding their refinish times. The audience could see this was the kind of information that could help them right away. They became very enthusiastic about affiliating.” SCRS is equally enthusiastic about the partnership they are forming with their newest affiliate. “I’m honored to welcome the Montana Collision Repair Specialists into SCRS,” states recently elected SCRS Chairman Tom Moreland. “Their commitment to the industry, and track record as an agent of positive change, are welcome additions.” “MCRS is a progressive group with a demonstrated ability to work with legislators, insurance industry representatives and other state officials as evidenced by their efforts to make DRPs in their state less exclusionary,” says Risley. “Their leadership will complement SCRS’ efforts to move our industry forward, and will help us continue to show that ‘Working Together Is the Most Important Work We Do.’” Through its direct members and 30 affiliate associations, SCRS is comprised of 5,000 collision repair businesses and 58,500 specialized professionals who work with consumers and insurance companies to repair collision-damaged vehicles. ©2005 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
