Industry Leaders Undertake DRP Measurement Study

In a coordinated effort to improve the DRP process for both body shop owners and insurance companies, industry leaders Square One Systems, Inc., Coyote Vision Group (CVG), BASF, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Sherwin-Williams, and 3M are partnering with Carlew and Associates LLC to undertake an extensive DRP research effort across North America.

The study, titled “Commitment to DRP Excellence”, will include up to 400 collision repair owners throughout North America and their experiences with the complex and often confusing DRP process. The goal of the initiative is to define best practices and to improve the DRP process. CVG, along with invited national vendor co-sponsors, will submit their findings to industry groups and leading insurance companies.

“Today’s multiple DRP programs, with a myriad of operational and reporting guidelines often impede shop productivity,” said CVG Group V President Marsh Gluchow, owner of Valley Motor Center in Van Nuys, Calif. “Asking a shop to respond to different criteria often leads to delays, mistakes, and confusion. While we share the insurance community’s goal of improved CSI, cycle time, and cost-effective repair, the current system is disjointed. If we can reduce the variables in DRP programs, body shops AND insurance companies can only benefit.”

According to John Beckworth, President of CVG Group I and owner of Collision Works in Beltsville, MD, emphasis will be on “uncovering the ideal elements of an effective DRP program.”

All session facilitation, data collection and reporting will be done by Beryl Carlew of Carlew and Associates LLC.

The initiative, undertaken on behalf of the collision repair industry, is being funded entirely by the national sponsors listed above. Twenty sessions will be conducted in 20 different North American cities, and qualified shop owners will be invited to participate. The first sessions begin August 2nd in Phoenix, AZ, and August 4th in Irvine, CA, and will conclude at the end of October. The sponsors will share their findings with interested insurance companies, with the intent to improve the DRP process for all participants: the shops, the insurance companies, and the vehicle owners.

Coyote Vision Group is an independent collision repair 20 Group in North America. Founded in 1987, the group is facilitated by Square One Systems, Inc., with offices in Ohio and Arizona. Monthly composites are prepared and distributed to all members, addressing in excess of 150 operational and financial comparisons, creating immediate improvement opportunities. In-person meetings are conducted four times per year, with focus on best practice improvement and state of the art industry activity. Membership exceeds 130 locations throughout North America.
