Business Tools | Tuesday October 18 Tools for Techs Helping Hurricane Victims Return To WorkTodd Hoffman, in Houston, Texas, and his “Tools For Techs” program is collecting tools from businesses and individuals all across the country and placing them into sets to give to thousands of hurricane victims so they can return to work.“The Government can help the victims with housing and immediate needs, the insurance company will pay for damage to the victims house and automobile, but without the necessary tools, they can not return to work,” stated Hoffman. Hoffman is taking the names of people needing work along with a list of the tools they require and matching them with a list of businesses needing employees. When he receives confirmation that the individual has been hired, he sends the necessary tools to the business so they are waiting there when the hurricane victim arrives. “We are helping the victims that are willing to help themselves. We are not giving hand-outs, only a helping hand to those in need,” explained Hoffman. “It is still up to the individual to make contact with the employer and secure a job. We only send the tools when we know the person is ready to go back to work.” Individuals from as far away as New Zealand have contacted Hoffman to see how they can help. Tool and cash donations have been pouring in. Hoffman’s goal is to ensure that all 4,800 technicians that lost everything in the recent storms have the tools and opportunities to return to work. The “Tools For Techs” program is a project of Scene Of The Accident, Inc, a non-profit 501(C)3 Corporation of which Hoffman is the Executive Director. All donations are Tax Deductible and go directly into the program to help hurricane victims. ©2005 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
