Business Tools | Friday October 28 Rising Heating Costs a Concern for AASP-MN MembersThe Alliance of Automotive Service Providers, Minnesota (AASP-MN) recently sent letters to the regional claims managers of the major auto insurance companies in the state to stimulate discussion about how payment rates for repairs will reflect rapidly rising energy costs. With the winter months just around the corner, the association had received numerous calls from members concerned about significantly higher overhead costs associated with the rising prices of natural gas, fuel oil and propane.“With winter heating bills projected to be 30–50 percent higher than last winter, automotive repair shops must find a way to see that this cost increase is recognized on the revenue side of their business operations,” stated Judell Anderson, AASP-MN Executive Director. AASP-MN asked to meet with insurers to discuss the issue and encouraged them to be receptive to individual repair shops who broached the subject. “This is a problem for every shop, and it must be addressed to ensure the continued viability of professional collision repair facilities and high-quality automotive repairs for Minnesota consumers,” concluded Anderson. ©2005 Collision Repair Industry INSIGHT | FEATURED
